Your Purpose In Life

A funny thing happened to me about two months ago.  I was searching the Net for one’s purpose in life.  You know, sometimes you get tired of doing the same things no matter how varied they may be.  Did I just contradict myself? No.  Sometimes, even if you have a job or a business that doesn’t require routine work, you still feel that it’s still routine.

To illustrate, I think a programmer’s work is not as routine as a bank teller’s work.  A programmer encounters various challenges in the course of his/her software development – should I use this particular programming language, for which hardware should I program this software against, my boss wants this particular functionality.  And everyday the challenges evolve. And every few months or so, the projects change. Read more »

How to make money online in the Philippines

(… or from any part of the world that has Internet)

So, you want to make money online like me, eh? You wanna try my kung fu (pointing at my nose)? If yes, go grab a beer (or four) and read along.

I have decided to write about making money online to have my own “manual” and to share what I’ve learned to others.  Before I explain everything else, let me outline my make money online series of articles:

  1. There will be a mother post (or article). This mother post will contain bullet points on how to make money online. These bullet points are actually also links to the actual and separate posts (children posts) that comprehensively explain how such particular online money making point, strategy or fact works.
  2. As I add children posts, this mother post gets updated to reflect the link to that particular child post. All children posts, of course, will link to the mother post, in return.
  3. The mother post is this post. Yes, yes, this post you are reading now. So, this post will be updated as children or related posts about making money online are published. Read more »

Michael Phelps versus Milorad Cavic Video – 2008 Beijing Olympics

It’s crazy.  Michael Phelps won his seventh gold medal in the Beijing Olympics to tie Mark Spitz’s record.  Spitz called Phelps’ feat “epic”.  I don’t know if that’s the right word but I know I root for Michael Phelps.

The win is controversial though as Phelps won the 100 meter butterfly by a mere 0.01 second. It’s fun to watch swimming and it’s even more fun watching this particular event because Cavic protested the results.

Cavic, however, eventually conceded after super slow-mo replays.  It looks, though, that he is not whole-heartedly accepting the defeat. Read more »

Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Michael Phelps and the 2008 Beijing Olympics

The Pacquiao – De La Hoya dream match is off (I’d like to think, only at the moment) because the Pacquiao camp is not satisfied with the 30 percent cut offered on the table. According to Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, they will accept a 35 percent cut.

If you ask me, there should be a 50-50 sharing.  Pacquiao is as marketable as De La Hoya at this stage of Oscar’s career. Read more »
