Philippine Car Fuel Economy / Efficiency

The Department of Energy was able to determine the top 10 cars in the country with the lowest fuel consumption.

Not surprisingly, diesel-engined cars dominated the list.  We own a Toyota Vios and I’m very glad it cracked the top 10.  It placed number 5, as a matter of fact.  I wasn’t surprised about Vios’ fuel efficiency as I’ve heard a lot of talk about its performance.  Also, I feel its efficiency firsthand, especially if I use Petron Xtra Unleaded.

I’m pleasantly surprised that big western cars cracked the top 10 as well - Mercedes Benz at 4th, Ford Focus at 6th and BMW at 8th.  Western cars are known to be heavy gas consumers. Read more »

Social Networking UserName Fetish?

I’m sure most of us have a username fetish.  We want our favorite username/s for ourselves.  Sometimes, I even wonder how in the world can anyone beat me to my favorite username.  It turns out my favorite username is not unique.  I honestly thought I coined the term myself.

Here’s a great tool that checks the various social networking sites if your username is taken or available.

Davao House For Sale

Our old (but really not old) house is for sale. We renovated it two years ago and it really has a beautiful interior. See the pictures at http://www.flickr.com/thetonex.

The house is located at Greenmeadows Subdivision, Mintal, Davao City. It’s near schools - U.P. Mindanao, Philippine Science High, Holy Cross, Holy Child, etc.

The street/lot location is wonderful. It’s near (yet far enough) a 24-hour mini mart and the neighbors are friendly and always in festive mood.

Will you please buy our house? You know you want to.

NBA Live 2009 on PSP

I’m sure most of you know that NBA Live 2009 on PSP (Playstation Portable) is out.  Sometime next week I’ll be able to acquire one.

Yes, the NBA Live 2009 or as the EA Sports, the game publisher, officially names it, NBA Live 09.

Tony Parker, of the San Antonio Spurs, is the cover of NBA Live 2009.  NBA Live 2009 costs about $40, not bad, but I’m sure there will be a lot of available downloads out there. *wink*

Google Chrome’s Negatives

Chrome Logo

I can’t disregard my Firefox browser after all.  Chrome is great and I would want to label it my favorite browser but it’s just not yet mature.  Here’s a list of Google Chrome’s negatives, at least from my perspective:

  • It still doesn’t have any plug-in capability - at least not the one that Firefox has. I picked up a habit of checking the Alexa ranking of every website I visit and Firefox has an Alexa plug-in that I’m highly dependent of.
  • A link is not colored appropriately when it has already been visited.
  • It can’t remember field values - this is very handy when I fill up a form to buy electronic plane tickets (and the like). Read more »

Limewire on Windows Vista for my mp3 downloads

Limewire IconI bought my first Windows Vista last June 2007 (I think).  Ever since, I haven’t been able to make my Limewire (basic) to work.  Imagine that, more than a year of not downloading music.  I survived that.

However, you have to know that I did try to make my Limewire work with my Windows Vista.  I tried several times between June 2007 and maybe June 2008.  Limewire said that Limewire works with Windows Vista but it really didn’t.

They blamed Norton Security - I didn’t use one. They blamed Java - I update my Java all the time. They said, uninstall, delete Limewire files, re-start, install - didn’t work.  They also said to update my Windows, I do that even in my sleep. Read more »
