Are facial scars sexy?

I just had to ask because on Christmas day, I got a facial wound as a present.

I was about to pop open my last bottle of beer from the cooler when somehow the bottle beside it burst and something hit me in my face just below my right eye. It could be the bottle cap, it could be broken glass.

The wound was big, it required stitches. I’m just glad it didn’t hit my eye. Honestly, I don’t mind the wound but it just effectively halted my holiday drinking spree. I know, it sucks. Reunion with friends while binge drinking, what a torture!

Looking at the bright side, I get to take care of my wife during the holidays because she’s pregnant! She needs special care because she has subchorionic hemorrhage. I wrote that my chances of impregnating my wife were slim and none. I guess “slim” won.

On a more serious note, please pray for us. We need this baby born normally. As I’ve mentioned earlier, it’s hard for us to make a baby. This one took us five years.

Happy fathers day to all fathers, but most especially, to my one and only father.

My father used to tell us (or did he just tell it to my siblings?) that one day we will understand where he’s coming from. Of course, he often told that when there were disagreements between offspring and parent.

I guess I will never know how it is to become a father or a parent. I have a low sperm count and my chances of impregnating my wife are slim and none. The doctor gave me vitamins to boost my sperm count, told me to avoid wearing tight underwear and told me to stop drinking. I did everything the doctor told me except the drinking thing. I can’t help it, sorry babe.

Anyways, my wife and I agreed that I quit drinking for 3 months starting July 2008 to try our luck (for the last time?) in “baby-making”. Good luck to that.

It looks like I’m slightly off-topic again, but who cares.

The woman with 60 cats (and counting)

This woman loves stray cats. She already has 60-plus cats (and counting) and loves every single one of them. She doesn’t pick “good-looking” stray cats. In fact, she only picks up the sick kittens who are left on the streets to their own devices. She nurtures these sick kittens, transforming them into healthy, handsome and beautiful cats.

She even had a cat shelter constructed in some place because the cats were already cramped in the very own residential home of this woman’s family. The new cat shelter is a bit crude but it is functional and effective.

The cats seem to love the new place they live in. I can tell it from how they play in the grass. I can tell it from the built of the cats’ bodies themselves (some are fat).

I’m thinking… these cats are lucky.

It doesn’t matter. I have come to love these cats and I have always loved this woman. This woman happens to be my wife.

Happy Valentine’s Day

I’m really not a fan of Valentine’s Day. I think it’s overrated but… my wife looks forward to this day every February 15th.

My wife, by the way, is so good with surprises (with me as recipient, of course). In the past few years, she has already surprised me with an acoustic steel guitar and a Nokia 7250 (back when it was sexy) as gifts even when there were no special occasions. She surprised me by driving a brand new Honda City with automatic transmission last year 2000. I didn’t know she can drive. She also surprised me by visiting me in Manila without my prior knowledge of her coming. She’s done that three times – one within several weeks of my first time to be working in Manila (presumably to cheer me up), one during Valentine’s day (I was out drinking with officemates) and one after we had a big fight.

Anyway, back to Valentine’s day today. I bought my wife 6 pieces red tulips to the tune of a six four figure peso amount. I don’t know if she’s thrilled or not. I’m an idiot who doesn’t know how to be romantic. I am the complete opposite of her.

Years ago, we agreed that having dinner on this day is corny, not to mention frustrating. Restaurants are full and services unsatisfactory. Today, we decided to eat out with friends and family who didn’t have dates. True enough, we ate dinner two orders short. Before, this would make my blood boil. Now, I understand the incompetency of our waiters, chefs & cashier/managers. I understand they lack education, thus, disorganized. The waiters, I can see from their faces that they are afraid to serve food to tables with angry patrons. I can see they are trying hard not to make mistakes.

Tomorrow is February 15th and my wife will be looking forward to this day again.
