Here’s how to do it:

Log on to your GoDaddy account.

Go to Domain Manager and select/click on your domain name.

Look for Authorization Code and click the link beside it, “Send by Email“.

I found the solution from this article.

A reader sent me a couple of interesting questions which I think is worthy of its own blog post. The question is related to blog hosting (or blog site hosting).

1. How much does web hosting cost you annually?

Annually, it costs me about $84 for the hosting and $9 for each domain name at Host Monster . Host Monster has a promo now, $1 cheaper than regular rates, so you might want to buy now.

Beware of hosting companies who offer very cheap plans. Sometimes their services are also cheap.

2. If your web hosting plan says you have a choice for multiple domains, does it mean you can have a second and possibly a third blog at no additional cost?

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is:

Yes, you can have multiple blogs at no additional cost. The blog software/application itself is free. You only pay extra if you decide to buy a new domain name (about $9 for each domain). See, you have two options when installing blogs:

You can use a sub-domain. Sub-domains are “children” of your main domain and you don’t pay extra for this. For example, you have a blog site with a domain named “www.myblog.com”. On this blog, you rant about anything under the sun. If you decide to also blog about food, you can install an additional blog and name it “food.myblog.com”. If you decide to also blog about your travels you can install an additional blog and name it “travel.myblog.com”. And so on and so forth. These additional blog installations won’t cost you extra.

You can use an entirely new domain. If you are picky like me, you will want an entirely new domain. So, in addition to “www.myblog.com”, you can also blog about food and name it “www.foodblog.com”. For travel, maybe “www.travelblog.com”. And so on and so forth. These additional blog installations won’t cost you extra BUT you pay for the new domain names (www.foodblog.com, www.travelblog.com, etc.)

By the way, most web hosting companies nowadays have a control panel that automates all wordpress blog installations. If a web hosting company doesn’t provide automated installations, fuggedaboutit. Yes, forget about it.

3. What web hosting company do you recommend? Seven months with Host Monster, would say you got a good deal?

So far, I haven’t had any troubles with Host Monster. I like that it’s cheap and it has a chat feature where you can ask for help. Like most hosting companies, it automates the installation of Wordpress. Overall, I recommend Host Monster.

Here’s the catch though. As your traffic grows, your sites start to freeze and return all kinds of errors. This kind of situation defines which web hosting company has the better service and hosting plans.

You need to upgrade your plan ASAP and if you can do that quickly and without data loss, then that hosting company is just the right one for you.

So, you blog… and your blog is hosted on either Blogger or Wordpress.com. You write well (or you think you write well) but still you think something’s wrong with your blog site. What could it be? It’s right at the tip of your tounge. No, it’s not your cigarette. Riggght, the URL of your blog is not quite cool or catchy.

A blog URL like “blogadikz.blogspot.com” or “blogadikz.wordpress.com” just won’t cut it. It looks like you owe it to Blogger or Wordpress.com that you are blogging. You can have your own “www.blogadikz.com” URL if you put your mind (and your wallet) to it.

Here’s how to do it:

Find a web hosting company…

that provides automatic Wordpress software installation (and upgrades!)

that allows unlimited domain names with only 1 account

that provides at least one free domain name

that has cheaper fees

that has a 24/7 chat support

that offers free domain information privacy

Let me try to explain the advantages of some points above.

Automatic Wordpress software installation. If you’re not a techie (or a lazy one), you will want somebody to do the installation for you. Need I mention the hassle of upgrading your software?

Unlimited domain names. You will want to blog about completely different topics. You can separate blog topics by having as many domain name as you want. Each additional domain will cost you about $9 a year, of course. That’s cheap enough though.

24/7 Chat Support. Not all web hosting companies have this service. We all have our stupid questions and we are, of course, lazy to look up the answers at the help section.

Domain Information Privacy. Sometimes you just don’t want anybody to know that you own a domain name. How else can you blog about your wild beach party if your geek dad tries a “whois” on your domain name?

When I first started blogging, I had to find out a web hosting company that supports all of the points mentioned above. Moreover, a hosting company strongly recommended by Wordpress (the blogging software) would boost your trust in the company’s server and service stability. I found one in Host Monster.

Of course, I could be an idiot and tomorrow Host Monster’s servers may crash and delete all my blog posts.
