Philippine SuperFerry 9 sinks

superferry-9

Philippine vessel SuperFerry 9 sinks off the coast of Zamboanga del Norte.  I have seen this boat up close several times at the port of Cagayan de Oro City during our travels to Cebu City before.

Note that this is an outdated photo and the cargo ramp at the front does not exist anymore.

Yep, I recently bought one… and count me in as one of the growing Mac converts.  Thanks to Windows Vista, I finally took the courage to switch.  Windows just plain sucks.

This package came via DHL and ordered via Apple Philippines (website).  There’s no stock available in Davao (I waited for a month) and I didn’t want to fly to Manila.  It was a bit more expensive than retail but don’t you just love it when they deliver it to your doorstep?

What are you waiting for? Join na!

Here are more photos of the un-boxing.  I don’t care what you think, I’ve-got-a-MacBook :P

Terran Matthew, Premium Baby

Terran Matthew

There’s a new member of the family, Terran Matthew.

I thought I would never be a father.  I was wrong.  Sometime November October 2008, my wife and I planned to adopt.  We decided to start looking around that time in hopes of actually adopting come year 2009.   We decided to spend the rest of 2008 praying and asking for God’s guidance.  Adoption is no joke.  It has its own complications.  We wanted to be sure that we were prepared, not only for parenthood, but for the complications of having an adopted child.

However, one fine November December day (still year 2008), my wife called me to come home early because she was sick.  When I arrived, she told me she was pregnant.  It was the best news I’ve ever heard all my life.  Yes, she really wasn’t sick.  She just wanted me to come home early for her to deliver the good news.  Read more »

Google Chrome’s new beta is out

chrome-beta

A new Google Chrome beta is out.  They say it’s 30% faster, yadda, yadda, yadda.  So far, I only see 2 things I like that matters to me as of now:

  1. It now sports a truly working “visited link” color which I found annoying before.
  2. Themes! (enough said)  Granted, I don’t think the public can submit themes just yet but the initial set of themes are groovy.  User-submitted themes are mostly crap anyway.

Banker to live in an island to quit smoking

Geoff Spice, a British former banker is trying a weird yet excellent way of quitting smoking – exile himself in an island.  Allegedly, the island only has three huts where shepherds once used.  There is no electricity and running water.

He really wants to quit that bad, huh?

I don’t blame him.  Quitting smoking is hard.  It took me 3 to 5 years trying before I actually quit.
