I just learned today that Google has incorporated code snippets in its search results. For example, if you search for the term “mysql_connect”, which is a very popular function of PHP since it connects to its preferred database, MySQL, a code snippet will form part of the search result:

Finally, Adobe, Google and Yahoo are working to enable search for Flash-based content. Me thinks Adobe is a bit slow in optimizing their Flash player technology.
One reason why most sites refrain from using Flash exclusively is because of its file size overhead. The other reason is SEO - it’s impossible to crawl Flash content. Read more »
I hate it. Sometimes, when I’m googling, I’m having a hard time finding the Google site tab in my browser. Maybe I’ll get used to it, eventually. I like the old favicon because you remember the Google logo when you see it. Whatever.
Apparently, Yahoo’s partnership with Mcafee has some minor glitch. Yahoo Search tags a Google result as malware. Curiously, searching for “google” doesn’t display this warning. Searching for “altavista” does.
Do you think this is an honest mistake, a prank or a joke? Whatever it is, my guess is Google is not laughing.
Update: Yahoo already fixed the glitch concerning Google. However, one site, whose not as big as Google, is also affected by this anomaly. The site owner claims they are not spammers as tagged by Yahoo Search. E-mail correspondence with Yahoo, so far, isn’t doing very well, according to the site owner. Ouch!
Allegedly, Google offers free beer and sushi to their employees. If this is true, I just found my dream company. I love beer and sushi (but hate working long hours)! Google on Monday added three experimental views to its list of possible alternatives to the established vertical list of Web pages delivered as search results. The latest additions, which people are free to try out if they have a Google account, are available through the Google Labs site. The idea behind the experimental search page is to give Google fans a chance to try out the search engine’s newest ideas.
The latest experiments include a “map view” in which locations related to search results are marked on a street map. Users also have the option of viewing the location on a satellite view.
The map view could be helpful, for example, if a person was looking for all the musical performances around town or technology conferences happening in a state. Because traditional results are spread out over many sites and pages, they may be hard to visualize at once, so the map view is aimed at solving that problem by plotting some of the key locations.
