Nadal vs Federer

Rafael Nadal recently defeated Roger Federer for the French Open title. It’s another setback for Federer’s quest for the highest number of grand slams won in tennis. Of course, the record holder is “Pistol Pete” Sampras. I wrote earlier that Pistol Pete is my all-time tennis hero.

I certainly hope this is the start of Federer’s decline in tennis. A lot of new players are on the rise to challenge Federer’s supremacy – Djokovic, Tsonga and maybe the surprise of the recent French Open, frenchman Gael Monfils.

By the way, I don’t play tennis but I know the rules and started watching it when Ivan Lendl was the world no. 1. Ivan is my first tennis hero, Sampras, second and all-time. After Sampras’ retirement, I felt it wasn’t fun watching tennis anymore.

And women’s tennis? I’ve stopped watching it years ago, when Steffi Graf decided to quit.
